Radio Free Alice is a five piece post-punk group originally from Melbourne, Australia. Inspired by groups like The Talking heads, The Strokes and probably The Cure (the guitar sound sometimes reminds me of them). High school friends who formed a band, they released the single “Fire Warning” in 2021 and have since issued two EPs. Their eponymous four-track 2023 of “post-punky but melodic” songs (in the singer Noah Learmonth’s words) and earned them fans at home and abroad.
After supporting The Snuts, Django Django, and others and some headline dates throughout the UK and Europe, the group released another EP titled, Polyester. Rolling Stone Australia was impressed with “Johnny,” the first single, “sizzles with skittering synths, bass-as-melody riffs, and a surprise cello twist…[and a] perfectly timed smack of vocal reverb that elevates the song to new heights.”
Rounding out the group is Maayan Barnatan, Michael Phillips, Jules Paradiso and Lochie Dowd. The band plans to return to the studio soon to record its full-length debut.
