Discovering new and emerging artists is always fun for me. This singer-songwriter and guitarist has a very interesting history. Zoe Scott was born in London, England, and began singing and playing guitar at the age of 9. She later moved to Rome, Italy at the age of 18 where she was trained as an actress. Zoe Scott says she grew up in a very creative household, both her parents are creative people. Her Dad introduced her to rock music and would play his collection in the house all the time. Her mother was a painter and introduced her to colors. She realized from an early age that she wanted to be an actress and singer. She starred in a few films while in Italy and also caught the music bug. She decided to move to Los Angeles, California to pursue her singing and rock music but after some time she felt that was limiting her ability. When she first heard Antonio Carlos Jobim's music she was blown away and began to study the vocal stylings of Bossa Nova.
When she first decided she wanted to record an album of this type of music she reached out to well-known Bossa Nova grammy-winning producer, Moogie Canazio to help train her voice into the romantic hushed tones of the Bossa Nova style, you may also recognize her voice from the Gillette Venus Razor commercial. She released her first album in 2006, Beautiful To Be Alive, and this past October released her latest, Shades of Love. Check out this multi-talented singer-songwriter, guitarist and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
