French singer-songwriter, video director, Woodkid aka Yoann Lemoine has been a creative and visual artist since he was a child. Born in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune which is by Lyon, in France. He first started with illustration and animation and studied both at Emile Cohl School. After graduating he went to London and took a silkscreen printing process course. He then moved to Paris in 2004 and was part of a project called Arthur and the Invisibles. He is most noted for his video direction with many artists including Katy Perry, Rhianna, Lana Del Rey, and Drake. He has won several MTV Video awards for the above-mentioned artists. Now how did he get into music and decide to be a musician, well the story goes that legendary singer, guitarist, Richie Havens gave Woodkid a ukelele during a video shoot. From that moment on he began making music. His first musical outing was a project that dealt with going from childhood to adulthood. He released his first album in 2011 called Iron with the single of the same title. In 2012 he performed at the London Jazz Festival and even has performed at the Montreaux Jazz Festival.
Woodkid's music can be described as neofolk and chamber pop. He has released several singles and has been busy also directing short films and music videos.
