Singer-songwriter Kesiena Ukochovbara aka Wayne Snow has the music world on fire. Born in Nigeria and raised in Paris he grew up listening to the music of his parents. They were always playing old soul records in the house. Later he learned to play both guitar and piano and his career started to bloom. His music reminds me of great soul singers like Marvin Gaye, Maxwell, D'Angelo, and others. Oddly enough Wayne Snow grew up listening to Marvin Gaye, Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, and Sade. His music is a mix of soulful vibes mixed with alternative pop, soultronica, jazz, and afro rhythms. In 2013 he decided to move to Berlin, Germany to find himself and create freely with no restrictions. He made his debut in 2017 with the album, Freedom TV and it featured multiple genres and won critical appraisal from Boiler Room, Gilles Peterson and so many more. He has collaborated with singer FKJ and others. He has brought New Jazz to Germany and the fans are loving it. In 2020 he released the single, Equilibrium which was a great dance song and he collaborated with his writing partner Darius. Last September he released his album, Figurine, and performed the title track on the A Colors Show which was full of funk and that drum beat is something. When listening to that album you can hear some traces of D'Angelo or Miguel on some tracks. The album won everyone over and it's a must-listen because it will take you on a journey into sound. He just released the live version of the song The Thrill with its smooth keyboards and his high-pitched vocals make you swoon. Wayne Snow is on tour through Europe but when he comes to the States make sure to check him out. Support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
