The Paper Kites

The Paper Kites

Melbourne, Australia natives Sam Bentley and Christina Lacy began collaborating on songs together in high school. With the additions of Josh Bentley, Sam Rasmussen, and Dave Powys in 2010, the Paper Kites became a band. Focused on cementing its folk-rock sound, the band recorded demos which they sold at local shows, and after releasing the single “Bloom, media began to take notice as well.

Two EPs followed, and by 2013 the group was ready to unleash a full-length record, States. More albums and EPs followed, with the latest coming in 2018. Both On the Train Ride Home and On the Corner Where You Live charted in Australia. Of the latter, Double J asserted “The Paper Kites' powerfully understated fourth album is moving midnight music to share a wine or shed a tear to.” Other reviews throughout the band’s career seem to agree with the late-night appeal of the music.

With live performances throughout Europe in February, the group is certain to earn new fans before returning home for dates in Australia in March.
