I was hooked after hearing this band's music and videos. Meet The Ninth Wave from Glasgow, Scotland, and described as a noise-pop band. The band has gone through a few personnel changes since its formation in 2014. The band consists of childhood friends, Amilia Kidd(vocals/bass), Hayden Park-Pattison(vocals/guitar), Calum Stewart(drums/synth) and Kyalo Searle-nbullu(keyboards/synths). Kidd and Park-Pattison are the main songwriters and vocalists.
Their music which they say was influenced by the 80's new wave sound and goth-pop is uniquely crafted into their own sound. The band has cut their teeth playing gigs all around their native Scotland and especially at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow. This was the place where the band Oasis was discovered. Their songs speak of pain and of not fitting into the norm. Check out their song This Broken Design which reminds me of such bands as Echo, and the Bunnymen as well as the obvious, The Cure. They made their debut in 2019 with their album, Infancy which was released as Part 1 and Part 2. Singer, Hayden Park-Pattison acknowledges that people listening to music nowadays get bored easily and therefore released their debut as two albums instead of 12 songs on one album. They just released their new single, What Makes You a Man, and are about to release their sophomore album, Heavy Like a Headache. Check out this talented band and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
