The East Pointers are a folk-rock band from Canada that has me enthralled with their contemporary folk sound. The trio consists of cousins Tim Chaisson on vocals, fiddle, and drum machine, Koady Chaisson on banjo, tenor guitar, and synthesizer, and guitar player Jake Charron. The cousins grew up playing music together since they were 5 years old. They met guitarist Jake Charron at a folk music festival and the rest is history.
The trio loves performing live and have played the music festival circuit for many years. Their process for recording their songs is to record some tracks for their live sets and incorporate them into their studio recordings. Their style of songwriting stems from their travels and it's just people places and things. They all got together in 2014 and a year later released their debut album, Secret Victory. They have won several awards including the Canadian Folk Music Award for Ensemble of the Year. In 2017 they released What We Leave Behind and continued playing around the country and around the world. In 2019 they released Yours To Break with my favorite song Wintergreen. Earlier this year they released two singles, Stronger Than You Know and I Saw Your Ghost. This past September they released their latest album, The House of Dreams. Sadly there was a tragedy with Kaody Chaisson passing away suddenly earlier this year. I'm sad about his passing and send a strong hug to the remaining members on their loss. Their music will live forever. Check out their songs and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
