Sevana

Since the time I first heard reggae music while at my college radio station I have been enthralled. In a male-dominated genre, this singer-songwriter is carving out a name for herself. Singer Anna Sharé Blake known professionally as Sevana didn't start out wanting to be a singer. Instead, she wanted to be a doctor and it wasn't until age 16 after entering a music contest that the music bug bit her. She formed a girl band, SLR but later took a break from music and came back to it in 2014. Sevana started writing songs and performing live. She was playing gigs and released her debut album in 2016. She has been featured in reggae artist, Protoge's songs and was signed to his label, In.Digg.Nation.

This talented singer-songwriter is not only a singer but also an actress and model. She starred in a Jamaican tv show Losing Patience and in 2020 released her major label debut, Be Somebody. Sevana says her influences are Celine Dion and Beres Hammond. She describes herself as a modern Anita Baker but with a reggae filter. This past March she left her label and is now independent and we are happy she did. She says she wants to use her music to empower young dark-skinned girls and women to love the skin they're in. She just released a new single, Brand New and we will hopefully hear a new album soon. Support this super-talented singer-songwriter and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
