This indie jazz artist reminds me of legendary folk/rock singer, Joni Mitchell with her vocal style only a lot more soulful. Meet singer-songwriter, guitarist, Rosie Frater Taylor from London, U.K. Her balance of folk sounds and jazz are a pleasure to our ears. No surprise when I learned that Joni Mitchell is one of her musical inspirations along with John Mayer.
She was raised in a music-intensive household with both her parents being musicians. Her rhythmic senses come from having learned to play the drums at an early age. She later picked up the guitar, ukulele and bass guitar. When she was 16 years old she started recording multi-tracks and those songs were part of her debut album, On My Mind in 2018. She is an artist to watch and has received such praise from Led Zepplin's Jimmy Page for her connection to the guitar. Last month she released her second album, Bloom which has already garnered praise from Bandcamp, jazz DJ, Gilles Peterson, Jordan Rakei and others. Her lyrics with pop overtones are so easy on the ears that I can listen to this all day over and over. Check out this creative and talented singer-songwriter and support independent music worldwide. Happy listening!
