Born in Finland, Gypsy Jazz guitarist Olli Soikkeli is now based in NYC. His virtuosic playing in the vein of the legendary Django Reinhardt has brought him acclaim since his earliest appearances at festivals throughout Europe. Early releases recorded in his homeland include his 2011 debut, Trois Générations with Hot Club de Finlande and Vitali Imereli followed by Kouvola Junction with Paulus Schäfer and Arnoud van den Berg in 2012.
Relocating to New York in 2014, he immersed himself in the city’s jazz scene, playing at legendary clubs Birdland and the Blue Note as well as Lincoln Center. Forming the Rhythm Future Quartet, Olli released an eponymous recording in 2014 and Travels in 2016. The latter received critical acclaim including Best Album nods from All About Jazz and Huffington Post.
The last few years have seen him recording with accordionist Julien Labro (2017’s Rise and Grind) as well a duo project Brazilian guitarist Cesar Garabini and, most recently, Romanian pianist Marian Petrescu, with whom he recorded earlier this year.
