Greg Puciato has had a long career in metal, fronting the Dillinger Escape Plan, the Black Queen, and Killer Be Killed. His second solo album, Mirrorcell, leans more on the rock and grunge side than metal, evoking Alice in Chains. Perhaps influenced by work he’s done with Alice guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Jerry Cantrell, Puciato leans into a 90s sound to create deeply satisfying and refreshing hard rock (and just what Indispensable Music and playMYmusic.FM needed this week).
The critics are feeling it too. Metal Injection agrees with our assessment that Mirrorcell is “the record you might just realize you actually needed. It's one of the best records of 2022 without any doubt” while Ghost Cult writes, that this is a record that “cements Greg Puciato as one of the finest current voices, musicians and solo artists of today. Distorted Sound urges, “get after it and enjoy another wonderful work from one of the brightest lights our scene has ever produced.”
