The indie-pop band, Lucius from my hometown of Brooklyn, NY has been on the music scene for quite some time. As a matter of fact, you have probably heard lead singers, Jesse Wolf and Holly Laessig's vocals on the records of such artists as diverse as John Legend, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples, Sheryl Crow, and many more. The lead singers both attended Berkeley College of Music and after graduation moved to Brooklyn, NY to pursue their music careers.
The band consists of not only Jesse Wolf and Holly Laessig but also drummer/producer, Dan Molad, and lead guitarist Peter Lalish. The ladies started out as musicians for hire and were happy that they had moved into an old Victorian house that had a recording studio and pianos already there. Their two-part harmonies blend together like two angels and are highly sought after by other artists. In 2009 they made their debut with the album, Songs From The Bromely House which was their ode to the experiences of living in the Victorian house. They played out for the album and continued writing, it wasn't until 2011 that they released their self-titled EP. Their song, Until We, Get There appeared on the TV show New Girl. Other songs as well have appeared on such TV shows as Grey's Anatomy and others. The band has released several albums and has been featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Live with Stephen Colbert, and many others. They are about to release their fourth album, Second Nature will be released on April 8th with the first single, Next To Normal already making waves with their fans. We look forward to their tour and be sure to check out this super-talented group. Remember to support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening.
