You may think that Indie artist, Ghost Woman is a female band but in fact, it's Evan Uschenko being mysterious. The band has just released their debut album, Full-Time Hobby and it's already garnering attention. The Canadian-based band members are singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Evan Uschenko, guitarists Travis Salty, Nick Hay, bassist Jon Lent, and drummer Eli Browning. Uschenko after touring with several bands decided to record his own music and retreated to a farmhouse for a couple of months. In 2016 Ghost Woman was formed and a self-titled album was released. On their second release in 2020, Anne, If the music style changed and was very different from its debut. Ghost Woman's music is a mix of psychedelia, Garage rock, and Krautrock. Listen to their song, Demons which reminds me of 60's bands of the day. Their track, It Might Be Dress Day takes me back to the Beatle's early songs especially the bass line of the song. In keeping with the band's mysticism, they are ritualistic and release their albums on the eve of a full moon. I will say this band is very melodic and I also hear some folk music influences on some of their tracks. The band is on tour and if they touch down in your city be sure to check them out, you won't regret it. Support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
