Singer-songwriter, Gaidaa says that she's a weirdo doing her thing. There is nothing weird about this talented singer. Gaidaa which is an Arab name was born in the town of Eindhoven in the Netherlands to Sudanese parents. She remembers singing birthday songs since she was 2. This beginning started her on the journey into the music industry. Her father is a musician and therefore music was always playing in her house. She was studying International Media and Entertainment Management but after living a gypsy life for a bit she made the decision to leave her university to pursue music full time, something she had to explain to her parents.
Her musical influences are Frank Ocean and Lauryn Hill and she is a huge fan of Anderson Paak. It's that smooth R&B style with a hint of jazz stylings that makes Gaidaa really unique. She is multilingual and sings in both English and Arabic, although she wishes her Arabic was much better. She has been making music for the past two or so years and her song Morning Blue received lots of attention, a beautiful song dedicated to the people of Sudan. Her debut EP, Overture was supposed to be released in 2019 but sometimes good things take time, instead, it was released last July in 2020. Her music runs the gamut from hip-hop, R&B, NeoSoul, trap, and jazz. Check out this 21-year-old talented singer-songwriter and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
