Singer-songwriter, Frances Quinlan has been making music with her band, Hop Along since early 2010 but is now branching out on her own. Born and raised in the northern New Jersey suburbs she started writing songs at a young age. As a teenager, she released her first album, Freshman Year before including instrumentation and collaboration for her project. She says she remembers her brother driving her to Philly and checking out all these bands when she was around 14 years old. She credits her older brothers for introducing her to different music and says her oldest brother bought her the album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Living With Ghosts by Patty Griffin. She says the song, Every Little Bit was the first song she ever played because it was easy.
She started playing in coffee shops and clubs around her neighborhood while still in high school. Once she turned 16 she learned how to play guitar and then started playing out on her own. She has come a long way from those early days and after a decade with her band has released her first solo album, Likewise. Check out this amazing singer-songwriter and support independent music locally, nationally, and worldwide. Happy listening!
