Du Blonde

This multi-talented singer-songwriter, artist, animator, and video director I discovered while checking out new music. Beth Jeans Houghton aka Du Blonde has been making music since they were 16 years old. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in England they started writing songs in their teens. They picked up the guitar and taught themself to play and it was off to the races from there. Born in Newcastle Upon Thyne in England they started writing songs in their teens and dropped out of school to pursue their dream.

They are quite busy with several projects going on. They create visual art under their real name and created animated music videos for such bands like The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Ezra Furman, and Laura Marling. They made their debut in 2006 and her band Beth Jeans Houghton and the Hooves of Destiny released an impressive album in 2012 titled, Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose. Check out songs, Dodecahedron and Atlas, the styles on both songs are rock and roll with a twist. Somewhere along the line, they felt their creativity was blocked and needed to regroup. They decided to change directions and change their name to Du Blonde where musically it's some kick-ass post-punk and psychedelic rock. I can't stop listening to their latest album, Homecoming which was released this past April. Their love of garage rock, soul, and psychedelic rock are all evident on this album. It's grittier than their past music and I love it. They even have Garbage singer-songwriter, Shirley Manson on the track, Medicated. The new album was recorded by everyone recording either from home or their own studios. Du Blonde has also self-released their latest on their own label, Daemon T.V. I can't wait for them to tour and see this raw and gritty band up close and personal. Check out Du Blonde and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
