Happy New Year to all, we start the new year featuring Indie jazz pianist extraordinaire, Dave Meder who has been called one of the most prominent artists of his generation. If you have listened to his compositions you would say that's true. He is classically trained and has been teaching music since middle school when he started giving private lessons. This Floridian studied the works of Thelonius Monk and Bill Evans as well as classical modernist, Phillip Glass.
After high school, he attended NYU and Julliard here in New York and this is when he started gaining attention. Dave Meder not only plays jazz but also mixes elements of gospel, classical, and post-bop. Listen to his track, The Old Rugged Cross with its gospel-inspired arrangements from his 2019 debut album, Passage. He says he wants to be able to play everything and indeed he can. He is not only a musician but a composer, arranger, and educator. He is Assistant Professor of Jazz Piano at the University of North Texas. This artist is always looking for constant musical elevation
and with his latest release, Unamuno Songs and Stories his exploration into jazz music continues along with up and coming featured jazz saxophonist, Miguel Zenon. Check out this multi-talented pianist and support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
