Nothing catches my attention than a great singer with a voice like honey. Charlotte Day Wilson from Toronto, Canada is that kind of vocalist. Her mix of R&B/Soul and jazz-influenced sounds are smoldering and you just want to hear more. As a child, she studied classical piano and she later taught herself production through GarageBand.
She says she has no role models and would like to be a role model for women in order to break up the boys club. She feels there are plenty of female singer-songwriters but not many women in engineering or mixing and production. This is where she would want to teach the technical side of making music. She is always looking out for women that are doing interesting things concerning music. This artist was nominated for a Grammy without having a record label now that's powerful. Her vocal timing and pitch have legions of fans following her and has young women blowing up her Instagram and calling her mom( meant as someone to aspire to). She made her debut in 2012 with the EP Palimpsest and has released several singles and 2 more EPs. It was the EP, Stone Woman that got her noticed in 2018. She has been a guest singer on several artists' songs such as BadBadNotGood and Daniel Caesar. Last year she was nominated for a Juno Award for Traditional R&B/SoulRecording of the Year for the single, Take Care of You which features singer, Syd. This past July she released her latest album, Alpha, and it's already getting great reviews. Check out her song, Strangers a beautiful song stripped down with its great vocal harmonies.
Charlotte Day Wilson will be going on tour with 2 dates here in NYC as her first stop at the Gramercy Theater on March 7th and Music Hall of Williamsburg on March 8th. Check out this super-talented singer-songwriter/producer. Support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
