Two brothers with a sardonic streak formed Cassels and leapt into the world’s consciousness with Epithet in 2017. Describing their work as “music for misanthropes and malcontents,” they have just unleashed their third album, A Gut Feeling.
Our featured track, “Charlie Goes Skiing,” is a biting critique on consumer culture, with a hero who keeps buying stuff that doesn’t make him happy. The track showcases not only the duo's wit and withering social commentary, it offers up slashing garagey-punk guitar from Jim Beck (also on vocals) and solid accompaniment from brother Loz on drums.
