When you first listen to the jazz band Baiana you may think they are from Brazil but are from Liverpool, U.K. The band consists of lead singer Laura Doyle who spent several years living in Brazil and loved the music and the people of Rio de Janeiro. The music is a mix of jazz, funk, and pop. The band's name Baiana means Bahia women. The band has caught the attention of well-known BBC DJ and Brownswood Recordings owner, Gilles Peterson who loves them.
The band had made their debut with the single Saudade Samba with Latin jazz producer Mark "Snowboy" Cotgrove. The single spent 10 weeks on the charts. Baiana has been gaining followers
and jazz critics are loving their music. They are performing throughout England right now and
once their album drops we hope they come to the United States for some gigs. They just released their single, Bossa Nova Dream which singer Laura Doyles says is how she sees a relationship and how she wants it to be. The song has made the Jazz FM playlist for the past three weeks. The band will be releasing a new album which is yet untitled in2023.
