Her voice reminds me of Chris Issak's song I Want To Fall In Love. It's the smoothness of her vocal delivery that got me right away. Angel Olsen from St. Louis, Missouri wanted to be a pop star as a kid but once in high school things shifted. She became more interested in punk rock and noise-type
music. She later learned to play piano and guitar and that got things rolling.
At age 16, she started playing in a band and after graduating from high school she took off for Chicago two years later. She is an old soul who has a love for music from yesteryear. She recalls her mother telling her about growing up in the 50s and what kids were like then. These stories of course fascinated her and it adds soulfulness to her music. She made her debut in 2012 with the album, Half Way Home and my favorite song on there is The Waiting. She has released several albums since then and has collaborated with such artists as, LeRoy Bach of Wilco, Tim Kinsella of Cap'n Jazz, and others. She just released her latest single, All The Good Times and in June she will release her sixth album, Big Time. Looking forward to seeing this great singer-songwriter live in concert soon. Check out this talented vocalist/guitarist and support independent music and musicians. Happy listening!
