Get ready for some funky grooves! Nikka Costa was surrounded by music since her early childhood (dad was producer Don Costa), and her recorded debut was singing on a single Hawaiian singer Don Ho. She sang with Sinatra at the White House when she was only nine. Her own recording career started with pop, covering “(Out Here) On My Own” from Fame on her eponymous debut album, also released when she was nine. As she grew older, she veered away from pop and into R&B, funk and soul. She’s still movin’ and groovin’ at age 52!
