LA singer Claude Fontaine’s breathy vocals drift above bossa nova and reggae rhythms on her second album, La Mer. Released five years after her eponymous debut, the “American girl with a French name” has captivated listeners with her take on 60s-era French ye-ye pop. Working with a talented crew of jazz, reggae, and Brazilian musicians, including Kleber Jorge on guitar, Ronnie McQueen and Andre de Santanna on bass, pianist Michael Hyde, and percussionists Gibi Dos Santos, Rock Deadrick, and Léo Costa, Fontaine is serious about her sound.
