Coco & Clair Clair are a cloud rap duo from Atlanta, creating caustically funny songs with a hazy vibe. Dreamy, girlish vocals belie the acerbic humor of lyrics that aren’t afraid to dis an unknown (to the audience at least) protagonist.

Claire Toothill met Taylor Nave met on Twitter, of all places, and met up in person, eventually recorded a track together. After releasing it on Soundcloud, they decided to keep going. The Posh mixtape followed in 2017, and they continued to release singles like “Pretty,” which went viral on TikTok.

After a few moves and managing the pandemic, the girls focused their attentions fully on their craft. In 2020 they released an EP, Treat Like Gold. The track “Wishy Washy” was featured in Donald Glover’s TV show, Atlanta. The duo released their full-length debut, Sexy, in 2022. The latest, Girl, dropped last week, and they haven’t lost any of their bite. The Guardian hails their “girlish singsong with sizzle and spark” while Pitchfork confesses, “cloud pop-rap stars Coco & Clair Clair’s barbed quips and cheeky attitude let you know they really care.”
